Mayor Kieran O'Hanlon, Chairman of Limerick City and County Council's 1916 Commemorative Committee, received this week, on behalf of the people of Limerick, the Tricolour taken from the Limerick Volunteers by The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment at Easter 1916.
The Tricolour was held in the Royal Collection, London, and has been loaned to Limerick by Queen Elizabeth II as part of the 1916 Commemorative Exhibition.
Mayor O'Hanlon expressed his satisfaction that this important historical flag is now available for public display in the Museum in Limerick during the Centenary year.
The flag can be viewed at Istabraq Hall, Merchants Quay during Museum opening hours of 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm Monday to Friday.
