Hospital Family Resource Centre is a voluntary led organisation based in South East Limerick offering activities, services and supports to individuals, families and groups in the area.
With core funding provided by TUSLA we are one of 121 family resource centres which form a national community development and family support programme throughout Ireland.
The centre provides a number of supports including:
Adolescent Counselling
The aims of this service are:
- Improve the quality of life for children and adolescents with Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, Bullying, Physical, Emotional and Cognitive complexities.
- Increase resilience and life skills with lower levels of anxiety and stress.
- Improve emotional well-being of the child and adolescent.
- Counselling Service: Offer a two-way helping relationship in which the young person can explore specific issues and develop more satisfying ways of living.
- Offer a high level of confidentiality and positive regard.
- Respect the young persons personal values and autonomy.
Training and Education Supports
A variety of community education, wellbeing, training and development courses, workshops and opportunities, including:
- Computers
- Health and Beauty
- Mindfulness
- Yoga
- SHEP
- Arts and Crafts
- SNA
- Health Care Assistant Courses.
Parenting Programmes
- Strengthening Families Programme
- 14-week Family Skills Programme for Parents with teenagers aged 12-16 years
- Childrens Programme
- Parents with Special Needs Programme
Parent and Toddler Groups – Facilitator Led
Facilitator Led Parent and Toddler groups with art and craft, physical activity, refreshments, learning library, parenting support. Day trips, outdoor activities and specialist information sessions and workshops.
SKiPS – Special Kids Parents Support Group
SKiPS is a peer support group for parents, carers and family members that have a child with special needs.
Parents and guardians of children with additional needs & awaiting an assessment/ diagnosis.
