From sporting activities to great food, live music and family fun filled days, there are so many great events on and near the River Shannon in Limerick.
Limerick becomes a mecca for families, foodies, fun runners and watersport enthusiasts each May Bank Holiday for the city’s premier summer festival, Riverfest!Highlights of the festival include Riverfest on the Shannon, the Riverfest BBQ Competition, Riverfestival village in Arthur’s Quay Park, Regeneron Great Limerick Run and a spectacular fireworks display.

Thomond Swim
Hosted by Limerick Masters Swimming Club, the annual Thomond Swim starts at the slipway at St. Michael’s Rowing Club, proceeds upriver to the Curraghower Falls near Thomond Bridge and finishing back at St. Michael’s Rowing Club, making it a challenging event in the country’s largest estuary.
World’s End Triathlon
Experience the challenge of the annual Castleconnell Boat Club Sprint and Try a Tri at the stunning World's End on the River Shannon in Castleconnell.
Glin Triathlon
Organised by Glin Triathlon Club, Glin Triathlon Sprint takes place every September in the picturesque town. A 750m open water swim, 24km cycle and a 6km run, taking in the beautiful views along the Shannon Estuary Way.

Castleconnell Halloween Festival
Every Halloween in Castleconnell the local community organise a family friendly Halloween festival, including pumpkin carving and a scarecrow competition. The highlight of the festival however is the Scary Trail which starts at the Ferry car park beside the children's playground and continues along the riverbank, where ghosts, goblins and witches lie in wait for what promises to be a scary Halloween night in the woods!
