  • Adare Flood Relief Scheme

    Limerick City and County Council and the OPW are progressing a flood relief scheme for Adare and the required studies for adjacent upstream and downstream areas.

  • Athea Flood Relief Scheme

    Athea village lies in the upper reaches of the River Galley and was flooded in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2015. The 2008 event followed a periods of prolonged rainfall and the 2009 event was due to inadequate capacity of a culvert to deliver flows.

  • Catchment Flood Risk Assessment & Management (CFRAM) Programme Update

    The national Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) screening exercise of 300 communities at risk of flooding in Ireland was carried out by the Office of Public Works (OPW) and was issued in 2011.

  • King's Island Flood Relief Scheme

    King’s Island lies in the heart of Limerick City and is surrounded by the waters of the River Shannon and the Abbey River. Both rivers are tidal at this location and the island is susceptible to both coastal and fluvial flood risk.
