The Mill Road Active Travel Scheme is a project being delivered by Limerick City & County Council. It is being funded by the National Transport Authority.
The project will consist of an off-road shared pedestrian/cycle facility from the junction of Corbally Road to the River Shannon viewing area.
The project is 1.4km in length and will include traffic calming measures such as raised pedestrian crossings.
The link will form an important part of Corbally’s Active Travel links, in tandem with the Corbally Safe Routes To School Scheme which also continues to progress.
The Scheme was approved by Councillors via a Part 8 planning application in September 2021, having gone through a public consultation process. See: Part VIII - Mill Road, Corbally | Limerick City & County Council's Online Consultation, Survey and Application Form Portal
Construction began in November 2023 and is anticipated to remain ongoing until mid-2025.
