The link, which will be approximately 980m in length and will provide segregated cycle tracks and footpaths, improved/optimized traffic lane widths and dedicated cycle and pedestrian crossing facilities between Quinn’s Cross Roundabout and Raheen Roundabout.

Upgrade works to bus stops, side road junctions and new road surfacing will also take place, along with landscaping works and Safe Routes to School treatments at St Nessan's Primary school.

When finished, the project will form a key part of the Active Travel network across the West of Limerick City – connecting with the Father Russell Road Active Travel Scheme and facilitating onward connections to Limerick city centre via the St Paul’s to Ballykeefe Scheme and the South Circular Road Scheme.

The Scheme was approved by Councillors via a Part 8 planning application in September 2022, having gone through a public consultation process. See: Part VIII - R510 Quinn's Cross to Raheen Roundabout | Limerick City & County Council's Online Consultation, Survey and Application Form Portal.

Construction of the project began in July 2024 and is anticipated to take approximately ten months to complete.
