Welcome to the Neighbourhood - MADE in Limerick

  • Made in Limerick Shop

Twenty artists have come together to launch MADE in Limerick, a new store in Limerick City.

The collective of makers from Limerick city and county strive to provide unique products made in Limerick, by Limerick residents. The artists and their products are diverse, ranging from knitwear to sculptures and everything in between.

Ceramicist Joan O’Halloran said: “The idea behind the creation of MADE in Limerick was to provide makers in Limerick with a venue to showcase their work and to sell locally made products. We opened in May of this year and had our official launch just a few weeks ago. We have seen a steady increase in the number of visitors to our shop, month on month, enjoying great support from our local tourist office, hotels and businesses.

“We chose Thomas Street out of a number of possible locations that we looked at in the city centre. The street has a great buzz with many cafés and eateries and the convenience of parking close by,” she added.

All the artists are based in Limerick, so whatever day you visit you will get to meet one of the makers.

“There is always a different face to greet you no matter what day of the month you visit,” said embroidery artist Brid O'Kane.

MADE in Limerick took part in Limerick’s Culture Night in September when their resident blacksmith provided demonstrations using his working furnace on Thomas Street.

“We were overwhelmed by the interest and support shown by local people. We hope to run similar events in the future.

“Limerick City is a fantastic place to shop coming up to Christmas. There is a great atmosphere, a huge choice of shops and great places to eat. Shopping local keeps our city alive,” said Brid.
