Caroline Dunne, Objects of Memories

‘My present work is inspired by memories, searching out and recording events by drawing of situations to bring memories back to life in a piece of art. Giving a new lease of life to often ignored and simple aspects and memories of our life.'

2nd December 2022 - 22nd January 2023
Limerick City Gallery of Art
Caroline Dunne installation

Her sculptures are composed of elements which are carved in yew, bog oak, ash, sycamore, beech, holly - elements modelled in porcelain and of additional hand-worked or salvaged elements in metal, glass or stone.

Her artistic practice is inspired by a profound interest in nature. Her language is one of symbolic form - form which becomes a vehicle for the spiritual in nature.  The majority of the work in this exhibition has not been previously exhibited apart from some pieces that were included in the Venice Biennale, curated by O' Donnell Tuomey in 2012.

This will be Foley's first exhibition in LCGA since the late 1990s and offers a significant opportunity to re-introduce this important artist to audiences in the Mid-West and beyond.

Foley's work has been exhibited in Ireland, UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Hungary, Poland, Finland, Canada, USA and Japan. She was the first Irish Artist to have a solo Exhibition in the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
