Marking the generous permanent loan of FOREST by Sean Cotter through the Contemporary Irish Art Society (CIAS), this exhibition continues to elaborate on the landscape genre's representation in the LCGA Permanent Collection through its contemporary works. The first presentation of the Collection's historic landscapes, by artists such as George Barrett and Paul Henry, charted the progression of the genre from 18th century estate portrait to instrument of national idealisation in the emergent years of the Free State. This display offers a contemporary examination of the forms and textures of our natural environs and a movement towards a sense of the inner landscape.
