Analysis of the latest Limerick Student City campaign highlights successful engagement on campus and online. The six-week campaign by Limerick City and County Council’s Marketing & Communications Department promoted Limerick as a “home away from home” for new and returning domestic and international students.
Aiming to enrich the student experience beyond campus life, the campaign successfully engaged university students, further education students, apprentices and those undertaking skills-based learning, to explore the vibrant offerings of Limerick city.
During September and October, the Marketing & Communications team visited the campuses of University of Limerick, Technological University of the Shannon and Mary Immaculate College, to enhance interaction with Limerick.ie and our social channels via an iPad giveaway. There are just under 30,000 students enrolled at these institutions. There are an additional 15,000 in post leaving cert or further education courses in Limerick.
Dedicated digital content was developed to reach wider audiences across Limerick.ie social channels, resulting in a reach of 230,072 and an 83% increase in video views across all social media compared to the 2022 campaign. As a result of the campaign, Facebook reach increased by 177% to 244,528 and Instagram reach grew by 97% to 58,792.
Featured content included: International Supermarkets; the Alcohol Free Guide to Limerick; Bites on a Budget; Bookshop Trail; Free Things to Do; and getting from Campus to City.
The campaign's success was further amplified through collaboration with UL, TUS, and MIC's social media efforts.
The iPad competition was won by Ciaran Mc Carthy – Bachelor in Education at MIC
